Instant Reaction: What did we just watch?

1 December 2020 Uncategorized

Since 2008, the Philadelphia Eagles haven’t beaten the Seattle Seahawks a streak that continues. Tonight, the Seahawks outlasted the Eagles to win 23-17.

It’s like we’re living in a constant state of Deju Vu as the Eagles continued to struggle offensively. They ended the first half with just 74 yards and one touchdown after a late touchdown drive to end the half. Quarterback Carson Wentz found Dallas Goedert on a nice designed screen play for the score.

After that we saw the same old Eagles offense. There was no commitment to the run, Wentz got into a little rhythm but kept missing the big play and the wide receivers couldn’t really separate. It was another display that made you wonder, is this team ever prepared at all?

Defensively, besides a mammoth performance by DK Metcalf who put up 177 yards on 10 receptions, the Seahawks didn’t do too much. The defense showed a lot of fight and actually played pretty well. Unlike the offense, they looked prepared and ready to go.

It’s just the same old Eagles every week nothing has changed and that’s what’s very disappointing. But now, young players are being taken out in favor of veterans. A perfect example is Travis Fulgham playing a season low 52% of snaps because they favor Alshon Jeffery. This season has just been a mess and we’re all at a loss for wards right now.

With a short week coming up and a trip to Green Bay, we’re just going to have to put on our happy faces and hope to see some positives. The schedule is getting tough and the Eagles aren’t getting better.
