Roster Move: Eagles release CB Trevor Williams and C Keegan Render

21 July 2020 Uncategorized

Philadelphia Eagles training camp hasn’t even started and they’re already making roster cuts.

The Eagles have released have released center Keegan Render and cornerback Trevor Williams.

Render was a player who didn’t really have a shot at making the 53 man roster. However, he’s a player who has the chance to comeback as a practice squad center to develop.

As for Williams, this move is a lot bigger. Many thought he’d compete for the second cornerback spot in the starting defense. He’s been a solid starter in this league and only was available due to injury.

It’s not the end of the world by no means. With Sidney Jones and Rasul Douglas as the backups, it still leaves the Eagles with Darius Slay, Nickell Robey-Coleman and Avonte Maddox as the three starters. There’s really no need to panic about losing Williams at all.

With a shorter training camp and no preseason games, the Eagles might just have to go with the players they know. It’s going to be hard for the usual one year singings to get into the team.
