How the Eagles running backs can dominate today’s game vs. Cowboys

Since the Philadelphia Eagles are going into this game with a depleted wide receiver corps, they’re going to need to lean on this running backs.

If their last two games are to judge this theory, it bolds well for the Eagles. In the last two games, running backs Miles Sanders and Boston Scott have carried the load for the Eagles offense. Last week especially, we saw a two headed monster.

Against the Washington Redskins, Miles Sanders compiler 172 total yards and two touchdowns. Scott compiled 65 total yards and 39 yards of that came off of the seven receptions he had. On the day, Sanders and Scott combined for 13 total receptions, they were big in the passing game.

Bringing all of this into the Eagles matchup today, running backs against the Cowboys this season have gone for 1,130 rushing yards and 10 rushing touchdowns. Also, running back have caught 81 passes for 621 yards and two touchdowns.

It is also known the Cowboys struggle against the screen pass, which is something the Eagles can use to their advantage. In their newer up tempo offense, these two players are critical. They catch a lot of passes and are big players on third down situations.

In a game as big as today’s, these two players can be the x-factors. They can completely take over the game and win it for the Eagles. We know when you run the ball effectively, it sets up the offense. However, when your running backs has the ability to turn any play into a big one, that’s when they win you games.

For the Eagles, they’re going to need to see these two continue to influence the football game. It’s going to be a tough road to victory, however, it’s not one that’s unimaginable. Using Sanders and Scott is the key.
