Enough is Enough, It Is Time The Eagles Get a #1 Cornerback

14 October 2019 Uncategorized

The Eagles entered Sunday afternoon 3-2 after a 31-6 beat down of the New York Jets. The team was riding high and there was plenty to be optimistic about. Well, the Vikings completely destroyed that. The Eagles fell to a Kirk Cousins led Vikings team 38-20, and honestly put together an abysmal performance.

Kirk Cousins was in control from the start and dominated this Eagles defense. He threw for 333 yards and 4 touchdowns. Stefon Diggs torched this Eagles secondary all game, going for 167 yards and 3 touchdowns. Him and Adam Thielen were able to get wide open the majority of the game.

Unfortunately, this is nothing new for the Eagles defense this season. The Eagles own the 28th ranked passing defense in the league, and have allowed an astonishing 1681 passing yards and 13 passing touchdowns. To put this in perspective, the San Francisco 49ers have allowed 751.

Opponents receivers have absolutely torched the Eagles this season, and there is no end in sight unless the Eagles can get reinforcements. Darby and Mills are both supposed to return to practice this week, however how much of a difference can they make? Darby was lit up in the Falcons game and Jalen Mills hasn’t played in an NFL game in almost a year.

I think it is time Howie Roseman gets aggressive and makes a trade for a #1 corner. The Eagles haven’t had a #1 corner since Asante Samuel, and it is time this team stops the bleeding. There are 2 names to keep an eye on, Jalen Ramsey and Xavien Howard.

Jalen Ramsey has only played in 3 games this season, and is currently out with a back injury. According to Chris Mortensen, the injury is nothing serious.

It seems like Jalen Ramsey will not play for the Jaguars until he is traded, however anything can happen. He is been openly distraught with the Jaguars organization and clearly wants out.

Xavien Howard is also battling injuries, as he sat out against the Redskins with a knee injury. Howard currently plays for an 0-6 Dolphins team that is looking to garner draft picks, and Howards name has been thrown around in trade speculation all year.

Jalen Ramsey seems more likely, and ultimately the player this team needs. He is only 24 years old and is a legitimate #1 corner that this team is so desperate for. I firmly believe that he will be traded before the October 29th trade deadline, and I also firmly believe it is imperative Howie Roseman gets this trade done. Enough is enough, this team needs a #1 corner and needs one fast.
