According to Mike Kaye of NJ.com, Corey Clement has been placed on Injured Reserve. He originally hurt his shoulder in Week 2 against the Falcons. The shoulder had been bothering him since and it could have played a big role in his costly turnovers.
The timing of the injury is brutal for Corey, as with the Sproles injury, he was going to get a lot more playing time. That would have been on both, Offense and Special Teams.
In a corresponding move, the Eagles have brought up RB Boston Scott from the Practice Squad.
During the offseason there was some talk of Scott possibly making it over Sproles. Being that he is the same type of back, just a lot younger. I’m not saying he is comparable when it comes to game day but a lot of us questioned whether Sproles could handle another year.
With Sproles and Clement dealing with injuries, Scott will get his chance to prove himself this Sunday against the Vikings. He may not see a lot of offensive snaps but I could definitely see him being used on Special Teams. He looked pretty good this preseason when returning the ball. Last year, he had four returns for 96 yards, giving him a 24 yard average, per return.
This move leaves the Eagles with three healthy Runningbacks for Sunday. We should see a nice dose of Howard and Sanders, with possibly Scott coming in for a change of pace.
The return game is not set in stone but we should see Scott and Agholor get their chance to shine on punts. Sanders could still hold down the kick returns but the Eagles may want to keep him fresh for Offense, with all of the injuries at RB. Don’t rule out seeing Scott back on kick returns, as well.
