Eagles Wednesday Injury Report

2 October 2019 Uncategorized

The Eagles released their injury report for today and it looks like they could get one of their top corners back. According to Ed Kracz of Sports Illustrated, Sidney Jones was limited at practice today. He is dealing with a hamstring injury that he got against the Packers. He’s listed as day-to-day but it sounds like Doug is optimistic that he plays.

Derek Barnett was also limited due to the ankle injury he got in Week 3. He was fine to play last week so I imagine this is just precautionary.

Six players did not practice today:

Ronald Darby is still dealing with a hamstring injury that kept him out last week and will most likely keep him out this week. He may be ready for Week 6 but I feel he was already rushed back at the start of the season. The Eagles need to be smart with him and not risk anything. Especially, with the plethora of injuries we already have at the position.

Alex Ellis showed up on the list with a knee injury. There’s nothing further as to the extent of it or how it happened.

DeSean Jackson is still dealing with the abdominal injury that has kept him out the last three weeks. The Eagles will need him to be healthy down the stretch so even if he could play this Sunday, I can’t see the Eagles taking the risk of re-injury. The Jets aren’t exactly one of the top teams in the league. They can’t take them lightly but they’ll have to keep in mind the road trip ahead. The Eagles got it done against the Packers with the four wide receivers that are healthy so look for them to roll out the same group this Sunday.

Timmy Jernigan is still dealing with the foot injury that has kept him out the past two games. He has about two to four weeks until he is ready to return, per reports.

Jason Kelce was out for personal issues but he and his wife have been expecting a child. It seems that is the case because he was not listed with an injury.

Avonte Maddox is recovering from that vicious hit he received from Andrew Sendejo last week. He is on the list for concussion and neck injuries and is expected to miss at least a couple games. He’s week-to-week.

Hopefully, Sidney can play this Sunday. If he can’t suit up, I imagine they’ll bring up one of, if not both, of the recently acquired CBs in D.J. White and/or Ryan Lewis, from the practice squad.

A few names that didn’t show up on the injury report were Corey Clement, Fletcher Cox, Kamu Grugier-Hill, Alshon Jeffery and Nate Sudfeld. Kamu’s case is incredible, considering he just started light practice a couple of weeks ago.

It may look grim at the corner position but we seem to be getting healthier in some other key areas. Hopefully, the Eagles will continue to get healthier and walk away Sunday with no major injuries. After the game at home against the Jets they have a three game road stretch against the Vikings, Cowboys and Bills, respectively.
