Eagles sign wide receiver Braxton Miller to their practice squad

8 September 2018 NFL News & Updates Opinion

The Philadelphia Eagles added to their practice squad on Saturday, by signing former Ohio State standout Braxton Miller. This comes a day after the Eagles cut 3 players from their practice squad, 2 of those being receivers in Rashard Davis and Greg Ward Jr.

Braxton Miller is an interesting pickup for the Eagles, and definitely has some upside. Miller was a quarterback at Ohio State, but transitioned into receiver in his last year with the Buckeyes in 2015.

Miller has struggled to see playing time since being taken in the 3rd round by the Texans in the 2016 draft. In two years with the Texans, Miller has a total of 34 catches for 261 yards and only 2 touchdowns. The Texans cut Miller on September 1st.

Braxton Miller is an intriguing signing for the Eagles that has the potential to be a steal. Miller has all the tools to be a solid receiver in this league, but has yet to show it at the pro level. The Eagles have one of the best offensive coaching rooms in the NFL, and if they cannot get Miller to thrive, no one can. He will not be asked to step right into the fire, as he will most likely spend the rest of the year on the practice squad.
