Five players who need to perform tonight vs Jets

30 August 2018 Eagles News

Preseason ends tonight for the Philadelphia Eagles and the New York Jets are in town. With the 53 man roster deadline set for this Saturday, here’s five players who need to perform tonight versus the Jets.

  1. Donnel Pumphrey

Although he’s a game time decision, it’d be in his best interest to play. Right now, there’s nothing to immediately lock him in on the roster. With Josh Adams likely to get a lot of looks, Adams could potentially lock himself in on the roster. Entering his second season, Pumphrey has all the traits to make him a valuable asset, but so far, he’s been unable to get on the field. Tonight’s a chance for him to get on the field and make some plays. Let’s hope he does so.

  1. Chance Warmack

Warmack did not look good last week versus the Cleveland Browns and with Jordan Mailata busting onto the scene, Warmack’s spot is in jeopardy. Also hurting him is the fact he’s not as versatile. Guys like Issac Seumalo and rookie Matt Pryor help their cause by  being able to play more than one position on the line. Warmack needs to show his worth tonight against a weaker Jets defensive line.

  1. Joe Walker

Nigel Bradham is suspended for the opener and right now there’s no definite Mychal Kendricks replacement at WILL linebacker. Walker is a guy who can fill in anywhere and play pretty well while doing so. Before his season ended last year, he was playing very well for the team. He’s a fringe roster player that can show his value to the team tonight.

  1. Elijah Qualls

With a lot of defensive tackles on the roster right now, Qualls seems to be on an upward climb to make the roster. There’s also the likelihood that defensive ends Michael Bennett and Brandon Graham will be moved around to the inside from time to time. And, Timmy Jernigan will be back this season as well. With all that being said, it’s not just Qualls but every fringe defensive tackles’ opportunity to secure their roster spot tonight.

  1. DeAndre Carter

He’s been electric all preseason and has worked extremely hard towards making this team. There is an open wide receiver spot and from the outside looking in, he’s all but locked it in. But, we’ve been through this before and know nothings a sure thing. Carter needs to have another big time performance tonight versus the Jets. He’s doing all the right things and deserves to make the team.
