And with that, the Eagles just lost a key contributor to their team on and off the field. Eagles tight end Trey Burton was expected to be on the move this offseason as the Eagles just did not have the resources to pay him. But, when the news actually hits you, it is a little hard to take in.
Burton will be signing a four year deal with the Chicago Bears. A team very much so on the rise with a new head coach and a young quarterback.

Burton got a big deal from the Chicago Bears and he will be gladly taking it. It is a four-year, $32 million contract for him, that is tight end one money. Burton was fundamental in filling in for the Eagles this season for tight end Zach Ertz and was all around a key player on special teams and for the offense. He had 248 receiving yards and five touchdowns. He came up huge for the Eagles versus the Denver Broncos and will always be remembered for his contribution in the “Philly Special.”
For him, the Bears are a team on the come up with a young quarterback. So far this offseason, they have already given Mitchell Trubisky to very good players to throw in Burton and former Jaguars wide receiver Allen Robinson.
We’d like to thank Burton for all his years of hard work and dedication to the Eagles both on and off the field, he was a class act. His forever be associated with the Eagles, now it’s time for him to do the same with the Bears.
