Eagles reportedly restructuring Lane Johnson’s contract

According to Field Yates, Howie is creating much needed cap breathing room by restructuring OT Lane Johnson’s contract.
As we know, the Eagles are currently over cap and need to get down by the start of the league year deadline on Wednesday.
Yates reports the Eagles cap hit will now by close to $5M instead of the expected $12.48M. A savings of around $7M in cap.
Source: the Eagles have created $7.5M in cap space for 2018 by restructuring OT Lane Johnson’s deal. His new cap hit is now $4.98M, down from $12.48M, with Johnson also collecting a $4.192M signing bonus.

Eagles – who will be in need of cap space when the new league year begins tomorrow to facilitate moves such as the trade for Michael Bennett – have created $7.5M in cap space by restructuring the contract of offensive tackle Lane Johnson, as @FieldYates reported.

Johnson will now have a base salary of $790,000 for 2018, down from $10.25M. He collects the same amount of money in total, it just gets paid out differently. Win-win for the team and player.
