The Eagles run wild in Los Angeles, defeat the Chargers 26-24

1 October 2017 Eagles News

The Eagles won a hard-fought, tough football game on the road in Los Angeles, defeating the Chargers 26-24.

The game was never really in doubt as the Eagles never trailed. The Eagles dominated the time of possession, 40 minutes to 20 minutes and were really effective running the ball. On 42 carries the Eagles racked up 214 yards, averaging over five yards a carry.

For the first time in awhile, the Eagles run game completely dominated the game and broke the opposing team down. LeGarrette Blount led the Eagles in rushing picking up 136 yards on 16 carries. Blount looked like his old self, on few occasions he completely bullied the Chargers’ defense.

Other than Blount, Smallwood had a good game, rushing the ball 10 times for 34 yards and one touchdown; he also added 45 receiving yards to his total on the day. And, Corey Clement had a nice day, converting a couple big third down plays towards the end of the game. Clement had 30 yards on ten rushes.

When you run the ball as well as the Eagles did today, you are going to see a lot of success. The Eagles played a complete game and dominated the Chargers. Towards the end of the game, the defense slipped a little, but the offense was too much for the Chargers to handle. It was not a perfect game by the Eagles, but they looked very good today, especially the run game.
