Wendell Smallwood is making the most of his oppurtunity

With LeGarrette Blount missing practice due to personal reasons, second-year running back Wendell Smallwood is taking advantage of the extra reps at practice.
The Eagles last two practices were live, which means there was active hitting. When the practice is live, Wendell Smallwood comes alive.

Smallwood has shown not only his ability to run with the first team offense, but he has also shown a bit of explosiveness and power while doing so. Obviously, when the Eagles signed Blount, everyone pointed to him as the Eagles short yardage guy, but a short yardage role might be in the running for Smallwood as well.
Either way, Smallwood showed a lot of promise last season and is showing a lot of promise this training camp to earn himself a big role in this years’ team.
Suddenly, the Eagles have a very good situation at running back. They have two very strong runners in Blount and Smallwood and two very shifty runners in Darren Sproles and Donnel Pumphrey.
