Eagles training camp recap: Wentz heats up, offense flourishes
29 July 2017 Eagles News
On a day where the Eagles were supposed to practice in front of the Philly faithful, Carson Wentz and the Eagles offense flourished.
Carson Wentz
For those that love to talk about Wentz and his statistics, he completed 100% of his passes today.
OC Frank Reich on @cj_wentz perfect session: "Every ball was in right spot. He was sharp. Exactly what we want to see." Wentz was 15 for 15

Wentz looked composed and showed no wasted motion. He was very accurate and looked every part of the franchise quarterback we all know he is.
You can already see a huge improvement in Wentz from last season. Everyone said, give him weapons and he will shine. The kid from North Dakota is set to set the league on fire this year.
Marcus Johnson
He is not a household name yet, but look out for Marcus Johnson this year.
Marcus Johnson is all the place today. Very good day for him #Eagles

He has been lining up all over the field with the first and second team offense. He is making a very good impression on the coaches, look for him to push the other receivers for playing time this year.
Cornerbacks
A few cornerbacks looked pretty good today.
Patrick Robinson breaks up a Wentz pass over the middle. Robinson's had a few deflections today. #Eagles

Patrick Robinson recovered from a rough practice Friday and made a few solid plays. He looks like he will be one of the Eagles starting cornerbacks come September.
However, another name to keep an eye on is C.J. Smith.
Good job jumping the slant by CJ Smith in 3 on 3. Got his hand in there to break up the pass to Marcus Johnson.

The second-year man from North Dakota St. has been making quite the impression on the Eagles coaches and players. For now, he is a dark horse.
Defensive Line
they were working on drills where the offensive would double team Fletcher Cox, I guess they are expecting that a lot this season.
Fletcher Cox just walked two Chance Warmack and Stefen Wisniewski back to the QB. He'll see plenty of double teams this year.

Other than that, newly acquired DL Timmy Jernigan looked like a major force today. He was disruptive and looks to be a very nice addition to the already strong defensive line.
Overall
The biggest thing to take away from the Eagles practice was the fluidity and efficiency of the offense. New receivers Torrey Smith and Alshon Jeffery along with Jordan Matthews, Zach Ertz and Marcus Johnson were able to put on an offensive clinic.
And, it is not necessarily a bad thing that the Eagles offense is beating up the defense. It shows the major improvement in the unit from last season. As camp gets a little rougher it will be interesting to see how dominant the offense really is.
Injury Update
Being it was the first physical practice a few players got banged up.
Alshon Jeffery – hurt his shoulder but returned to team drills later on (OK)
Elijah Qualls – got injured in DL vs. OL drills and limped off the field, later seen limping around NovaCare Complex (Questionable)
Alex McCallister – missed practice with hamstring injury (Questionable)
Nick Foles – missed practice with an inflamed elbow (1 week)
