Eagles defensive end Marcus Smith might not even be on the team at the start of the 2017 season.
Today, the Eagles declined the 5th year option on Smith’s contract, making him a free agent in 2018……if he even makes it that far.

When the Eagles drafted Derek Barnett, the writing had to be on the wall.
Smith, the 2014 first-round pick has been a major bust for the organization. However, last season, he did have a better season than the overpaid pass rusher Vinny Curry.
But, Smith is in a fight for his spot on the team. Smith needs to prove his worth here in Philadelphia. If he fails to do so, Smith might be a camp casualty.
