Zach Ertz will bring a lot to the table Sunday vs. Lions

5 October 2016 Eagles News

Monday, Eagles tight end Zach Ertz was cleared to play Sunday versus the Detroit Lions. Ertz has been out since week one dealing with a displaced rib injury. This Sunday, Ertz will look to build off of his solid performance week one. Ertz will bring a lot to the table versus the Lions.

The matchup versus the Lions will bold well for Ertz and the Eagles. The Lions have not been the best team when it comes to covering tight ends this season. In four games the Lions have given up five touchdowns to opposing tight ends. Ertz has a good chance to find the end zone on Sunday.

Also, this will be the first time the Eagles will have all three of the tight ends on the field together. If you remember, Burton was injured for the game versus the Browns. Head Coach Doug Pederson could not hold back his excitement in a recent press conference when asked about the three tight end set, he is looking forward to unleashing it.

With Ertz out, offensive lineman Matt Tobin took his place in the formation. Now, the Eagles will have Ertz, Trey Burton, and Brent Celek all on the field together. Burton and Celek have played very well in Ertz’s absence. Sunday, having those three on the field will be a nightmare for the Lions. The Lions will have to pick their poison when defending those three.

The Eagles will get creative with those three players. We have seen glimpses of what is to come. However, injuries have not let us see the full thing. Expect a lot of the three tight end sets, and expect a lot of Zach Ertz. The Eagles are definitely going to use their tight ends a lot Sunday.

All three of the Eagles tight ends bring a lot to the table. However, expect the Eagles to get the ball to Ertz early versus the Lions. Having Ertz back is a big boost to the Eagles offense. Ertz is going to be eager to get back on the field and make some plays. He is in for a big game Sunday versus the Lions.
