Five bold predictions for tonight’s game vs. Falcons

Tonight’s the night, the Eagles campaign to defend the crown begins tonight and the Atlanta Falcons are the first team in the way.
Coming into this game, there will be opportunities for a few players to step up and make a difference. Going into tonight’s game, here’s five bold predictions that will influence the outcome of the game.
- Shelton Gibson catches four passes for 80 yards
With Alshon Jeffery and Mack Hollins missing tonight’s game with injuries, all of the sudden Shelton Gibson will see the field and see the field a lot. Like he did all preseason, Gibson is going to be the Eagles deep threat option and he’s going to stretch the field for the Eagles. Gibson is going to cause a lot of problems for the Falcons.
- The Eagles lock down Julio Jones
Last time the two teams met, Jones went off for 101 yards on nine catches. He found a lot of open space, but he was not able to find the end zone. This time around, the Eagles cornerbacks are better and more confident. The Eagles will have a specific scheme that will nullify the effect of Jones.
- Jay Ajayi torches the Falcons
The run game is going to be key to the success of the Eagles. In the playoffs, he led the Eagles in rushing with 54 yards. Tonight he’s expected to lead the way and get a lot of carries. The Eagles can control the clock and game through Ajayi and they know that. Tonight he’ll see 21 carries for 118 yards and one touchdown.
- It’s a sack party
The Eatles added Michael Bennett this offseason as well as handing over a starting job to Derek Barnett. Tonight, with the crowd as electric as ever, the defensive line is going to feast. It’s going to be a five plus sack game from them.
- Zach Ertz a man on a mission
The Eagles best offensive weapon is due to get a lot of targets and make a lot of catches. Ertz is going to continue where he left off last postseason and torch the Falcons for nine catches for 105 yards. Quarterback Nick Foles needs a security blanket to throw to and Ertz will be that guy.
