Breaking: Eagles DC Jim Schwartz will not be returning in 2021
2 January 2021 Eagles News
There’s some big news coming out of Philadelphia today.
This just in, Eagles defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz won’t be back with the team next season.
Schwartz intends on letting his contract play out and take a year off. He’s been the defensive coordinator since the hire of Doug Pederson. Pederson was quoted saying he picked Schwartz because he could relax knowing he had full control of the defense.
We give Schwartz a lot of slack but he’s done a lot with very little here in Philadelphia. And, that’s mostly because of the countless injuries they’ve had to deal with through the years. The defense has been bad at time, but always played up to par when the really needed to.
Now, all along the Eagles fans have been head coach hunting but now it’s time to mock up who the Eagles fans think they want at defensive coordinator. There’s going to be a lot of candidates.
But, one of the more dramatic things that can come from this is a whole defensive staff shakeup. Getting someone from outside the organization will likely cause them to hire other staff members, one who the new defensive coordinator wants to work with.
Basically, there’s probably going to be a lot of change to this Eagles defense moving forward. Since the 2016 season it’s been the same, now it’s changing.
