The Eagles win in Jalen Hurts’ debut, defeat Saints 24-21

13 December 2020 Uncategorized

For the first time in what seems like a while, not only did we see a great team effort, we saw a win!

The Philadelphia Eagles defeated the New Orleans Saints 24-21. Yes, the Eagles beat what was the leagues best defense and NFC one seed at the time. Let’s get into what exactly we just saw.

We wouldn’t be doing this post a service without mentioning Jalen Hurts. Under his reign, the Eagles put up 246 rushing yards and a total yards mark of 413 yards. Hurts threw for 167 passing yards and one touchdown also adding 106 rushing yards to cap off his great day.

Miles Sanders had a big day, running for 115 yards and two touchdowns. With Hurts in, the Eagles run game was the difference. The dual threat ability of Hurts to go with Sanders’ playmaking ability made a deadly duo.

Alshon Jeffery didn’t contribute much today, but, he did score the Eagles lone passing touchdown. Hurts put the ball right where it had to be and Jeffery made the play.

Defensively, the Eagles defense kept them in check all game. It wasn’t until the injuries to the secondary that the Saints offense started having success. When it was all said and done, the Eagles defense not only had five sacks, they finally forced a turnover.

Not one single person thought the Eagles were going to win today. The most impressive thing is everyone thought Hurts would struggle against the Saints defense but he was calm, cool and collected. He looks comfortable and the Eagles are only going to get better as the play book expands for him.

Next week, the Eagles are up against the Arizona Cardinals who are a good team yet again. If they play with the same energy and level of execution next week, they’ll be in that game as well. There’s much more to breakdown following this one, stay tuned for more content on @4thandJawn.
