Week 7 Fantasy Football Rankings

23 October 2020 Fantasy Football

Who’s ready for a rankings article? I know I am! Week 7 gives us some of the best and worst matchups of the season. If you’re anything like me, this is a week that could really make or break the season for you. This could be another week of 101-100 or 161-60 games. It could all go right or all go wrong this week because that’s how vast the matchups are this week. Anyway, let’s get into it starting with the Quarterbacks. (BOLD INDICATES START OF THE WEEK)

Quarterback:

  1. Russell Wilson @ Arizona Cardinals
  2. Aaron Rodgers @ Houston Texans
  3. Kyler Murray vs. Seattle Seahawks
  4. Josh Allen @ New York Jets
  5. Patrick Mahomes @ Denver Broncos
  6. Deshaun Watson vs. Green Bay
  7. Ryan Tannehill vs. Pittsburgh Steelers
  8. Tom Brady @ Las Vegas Raiders
  9. Matt Ryan vs. Detroit Lions
  10. Matthew Stafford @ Atlanta Falcons
  11. Justin Herbert vs. Jacksonville Jaguars
  12. Cam Newton vs. San Francisco 49ers

Is Ryan Tannehill actually a fantasy matchup proof quarterback now? We will see this week as the 5-0 Tennessee Titans meet the 5-0 Pittsburgh Steelers @ 1 PM E/T in Nissan Stadium. Currently completing just below 70% of his passes for a total of 1,370 yards and 13 TD’s, Tannehill gets the benefit of facing a Pittsburgh defense that has given up the seventh most passing YPG on the road.

Running Back:

  1. Aaron Jones @ Houston Texans
  2. Alvin Kamara vs. Carolina Panthers
  3. James Conner @ Tennessee Titans
  4. Ezekiel Elliott @ Washington Football Team
  5. Chris Carson @ Arizona Cardinals
  6. Kareem Hunt @ Cincinnati Bengals
  7. Joe Mixon vs. Cleveland Browns
  8. Todd Gurley vs. Detroit Lions
  9. Mike Davis @ New Orleans Saints
  10. Derrick Henry vs. Pittsburgh Steelers
  11. Ronald Jones @ Las Vegas Raiders
  12. Antonio Gibson vs. Dallas Cowboys
  13. James Robinson @ Las Angeles Chargers
  14. Deandre Swift @ Atlanta Falcons
  15. Clyde Edwards-Helaire @ Denver Broncos
  16. Josh Jacobs vs. Tampa Bay Bucs
  17. Melvin Gordon @ Kansas City Chiefs
  18. David Montgomery @ Los Angeles Rams
  19. Kenyan Drake vs. Seattle Seahawks
  20. Darrell Henderson vs. Chicago

The battle of Ohio will come down to the running game. Will Kevin Stefanski be able to get Kareem Hunt going against a porous Bengals run defense? Will Zac Taylor be able to get Joe Mixon going against a formidable Browns run defense? Although Cleveland is allowing just 94 yards per game on the ground, their home/road splits are a large difference. (79.7 ypg/108.3 ypg). Given the proximity of these two teams, I give the slight edge to Hunt but expect Joe Mixon to be involved as well.

Wide Receiver:

  1. Deandre Hopkins @ Seattle Seahawks
  2. Stefon Diggs @ New York Jets
  3. K. Metcalf vs. Arizona Cardinals
  4. Julio Jones vs. Detroit Lions
  5. Tyreek Hill @ Denver Broncos
  6. Mike Evans @ Las Vegas Raiders
  7. Kenny Golladay @ Atlanta Falcons
  8. Tyler Lockett @ Arizona Cardinals
  9. CeeDee Lamb @ Washington Football Team
  10. Chris Godwin @ Las Vegas Raiders
  11. Chase Claypool @ Tennessee Titans
  12. Keenan Allen vs. Jacksonville Jaguars
  13. J. Brown vs. Pittsburgh Steelers
  14. Tyler Boyd vs. Cleveland Browns
  15. Michael Thomas vs. Carolina Panthers
  16. Amari Cooper @ Washington Football Team
  17. Calvin Ridley vs. Detroit Lions
  18. Robby Anderson @ New Orleans Saints
  19. Jamison Crowder vs. Buffalo Bills
  20. J. Chark @ Los Angeles Chargers

In a putrid offense and disgustingly bad team, Jamison Crowder has been the lone bright spot for fantasy relevancy in the Jets’ offense. I was EXTREMELY low on the Jets before the season began, and was even more so after the release of Le’Veon Bell. The outcome for Crowder to this point in the season 95.75 yards per game on 11.5 targets per game and 2 touchdowns, leading to a WR23 season long performance, even after missing 2 games.

Tight End:

  1. Travis Kelce @ Denver Brocos
  2. George Kittle @ New England
  3. Darren Waller vs. Tampa Bay Bucs
  4. Noah Fant vs. Kansas City Chiefs
  5. Robert Tonyon @ Houston Texans
  6. Jonnu Smith vs. Pittsburgh Steelers
  7. J. Hockenson @ Atlanta Falcons
  8. Hayden Hurst vs. Detroit Lions
  9. Darren Fells vs. Green Bay Packers
  10. Jared Cook vs. Carolina Panthers
  11. Hunter Henry vs. Jacksonville Jaguars
  12. Austin Hooper @ Cincinnati Bengals

The tight end position is an absolute wasteland this season. If you didn’t utilize an early pick to draft Kelce or Kittle, you’ve mostly been left with streamers and even those have been scarce this season. Gesicki, Jonnu Smith and Hayden Hurst have given us glimpses of streamability but even that has been tough to come by. In a year of inconsistent tight end play, look no further than Darren Fells this week. Averaging 43 yards per game in place of Jordan Akins, Fells has also found the end zone in both games. Hockenson is also a streamable option this week against the Falcons bad pass defense.
