What the Eagles are getting by drafting Clemson S K’Von Wallace

The Eagles just took Clemson safety K’Von Wallace with their first pick in the fourth round.

What exactly are they getting by adding Wallace? They’re getting a captain of a very good Clemson defense. He’s a hard hitter who had a 92.1 PFF cover grade as well. This is the highest grade among safeties in this years Draft.

Here’s a scouting report on Wallace from NFL.com

“While he played some safety and a lot of big nickel in 2019, his biggest impact came when cutting it loose as a downhill blitzer, disrupting the run and smashing quarterbacks. Wallace plays with exceptional grit and tenacity. He unloads with everything he’s got on hit after hit. His hips may be too tight to hold up in man coverage and he lacks range as a high safety. He’s a potential backup safety capable of playing near the line and helping on special teams.”

A player like Wallace has the built and leadership of Malcolm Jenkins. In a way, he could be the perfect replacement. With the Eagles, they’ve obviously moved Jalen Mills to safety as well as adding Will Parks and resigning Rodney McLeod. Wallace will join that room and slowly take over.

He’s a player who plays with intensity, he flies to the ball. He can deliver the big hit and punish opposing offenses. He’s going to be in the perfect system with the Eagles. This is a great pick.
