Speed, speed and more speed. How new WR Quez Watkins fits the Eagles

With pick 200 in the year’s NFL Draft, the Philadelphia Eagles took a wide receiver who can fly.

Southern Miss wide receiver Quez Watkins is making his way to Philadelphia. Watkins ran a 4.35 forty yard dash at this year’s NFL combine which was the second best behind Henry Ruggs.

Watkins has 64 receptions for 1,178 yard and six touchdowns this past season. In his career, he racked up 2,404 yards and 17 touchdowns. He was a constant deep threat and playmaker for the Golden Eagles.

In a normal draft class, Watkins would have gone much higher. This year, thankfully for the Eagles, he fell right into their hands. He’s a player who could come into the Eagles offense and change the game with one play.

Look at the roster last season, the Eagles didn’t have any player after DeSean Jackson was loss due to injury that could change the game. Watkins is a player who can take a five yard slant to the house.

The Eagles offense went from zero speed to a ton of it. This is definitely going to be crucial going forward. Any game can be turned on it’s head with one of these playmakers on the field.

Between Jalen Reagor, John Hightower and Watkins obviously they’re all not going to see the field right away. Remember, DeSean Jackson, Alshon Jeffery and Marquise Goodwin are all on the roster as well as Greg Ward and JJ Archega Whiteside. But, some friendly competition is never a bad thing and with the Eagles wanting to add speed, you’d think they’d all have all the chances to get onto the field.

Watkins is going to have to fight for playing time to start his career but taking time to develop could be worth its weight in gold. The Eagles have young, fast receivers ready to explode onto the scene.. finally!
