Slay is one of the league’s most underrated players. He has been to the Pro Bowl each of the last three seasons and in 2017, he was also named an All Pro. He is a proven number one quarterback who has had a lot of success in this league.
Last season, Slay had 36 total tackles and two interceptions. Stemming back to 2017 when he had 54 tackles and eight interceptions, Slay’s lock down reputation took over and he saw less action each year since that season. So, do not use statistics to judge Slay, he is legit.
This move, once completed, will be a big one for the Eagles. Slay gives them a lot of insurance as they look to find longer term answer at cornerback. For the next few seasons, they’ll have one of the best in the league and we cannot stress that enough, it is a huge upgrade for them. Also, he is a Jim Schwartz guy. Schwartz was the head coach when the Lions drafted Slay in 2013. He will fit right into the Eagles team and upgrade them immediately.
We do not know the compensation yet, so stay tuned as this story develops.
