Jenkins, a leader on the Eagles, will leave the Eagles after hardly ever missing a snap for them. He was the heart beat of the defense and played a major role in their run to the Super Bowl.
In his six year tenure with the Eagles, he did more than just produce on the field. He fought for the Philadelphia community on and off the field. He was their Walter Payton Man of the Year nominee and he’s definitely a player who’s impact goes beyond the field.
This move has been building up and finally, it happened. Jenkins previously said he wouldn’t play again under his deal. The Eagles couldn’t come to terms with a new contract and this is the result.
Replacing him is going to be a major issue for the Eagles. Maybe not his play, you can always find a replacement. But finding a player with the same amount of passion and leadership is going to be the problem.
Let’s all take the time to let Jenkins know how appreciated he was during his tenure. He was a big part of the team who won the Super Bowl and he was a stand out player. Thank you Malcom Jenkins.
