Report: The Eagles are releasing LB Nigel Bradham

18 February 2020 Uncategorized

Let the roster moves begin. The Philadelphia Eagles are releasing linebacker Nigel Bradham.

Bradham, a four year starter for the Eagles has been one of their go to linebackers. This past season, Bradham missed time due to injury and put up 61 total tackles and one interception.

There’s no doubt his production as decreased every year with the Eagles. Injuries have played a part in that, but now it comes time to make the business decision. The Eagles knew they had to let him go.

Releasing Bradham saves the Eagles $4.4 million in cap space. This season, the Eagles could have picked up a $9.5 million option on his contract. They elected to release him instead.

It’s all about getting younger at the position. The Eagles saw Nate Gerry and T.J Edwards step up. Now, with a key vacancy, hopefully they find a new linebacker in the draft.

Bradham brought the passion and fight back into the Eagles defense. He was a tough player. The Eagles can’t afford to lose that by losing him. But, it was time for a change at linebacker and the Eagles are smart to move in that direction.
