Eagles Activate CB Cre’Von LeBlanc; Promote TE Josh Perkins; Waive DT Albert Huggins

30 November 2019 Uncategorized

According to Mike Kaye, of NJ.com, the Eagles activated cornerback Cre’Von LeBlanc off of Injured Reserve and promoted Tight End Joshua Perkins from the Practice Squad. To make room they waived Defensive Tackle Albert Huggins. The previous spot was open due to the release of Wide Receiver Jordan Matthews.

LeBlanc had practiced all week and the thought was, if he was activated before the game, then he would play. He had originally injured his foot during Training Camp and was placed on Injured Reserve, after final cuts

LeBlanc should look to see the field, immediately. The Eagles defense has been much improved since the return of Darby and Mills but in a pass-happy league, you can always use healthy Cornerbacks. The way the Eagles rotate and play to the matchup, there will be plenty of snaps to go around. For the two aforementioned, as well as Maddox and LeBlanc.

Josh Perkins was brought up due to the hamstring injury to Tight End Zach Ertz. It is unsure if Ertz will play Sunday, as he only practiced Friday in a limited capacity.

If Ertz is out, that will leave the Eagles with Goedert and Perkins, as their only Tight Ends on the roster. Perkins is more of a pass catching TE than he is a blocking TE, so he would fill the void but obviously there’s no way to truly replace someone like Ertz. Luckily for the Eagles, they have another stud Tight End in Dallas Goedert. Look for him to become Wentz’ favorite target if Ertz is out and Jeffery and Agholor are still dealing with injuries.

Albert Huggins was signed off the Texans Practice Squad, before the Eagles game against the Bills in Week 8. They had just lost Hassan Ridgeway and Akeem Spence to injury. The first being placed on IR and the latter was released. Jernigan and Cox were still not fully heatlhy, either. Huggins made three tackles in his four games for the Eagles.

The Eagles are now down to three Defense Tackles in Fletcher Cox, Timmy Jernigan and Anthony Rush. Remember though, the Eagles also use Brandon Graham on the inside, during passing situations.
