The Eagles have signed Safety A.J. Howard to their practice squad. It was reported yesterday, by NFL Insider Adam Caplan, that Howard was in for a visit.

Howard is 5’11” and weighs 200 lbs. He was undrafted out of Appalachian State when he entered the league in 2018. He has spent time on the Cardinals, Giants, Patriots and most recently the Ravens. He has never made it to the active roster on any of those teams.
He spent four years at Appalachian State. He had a total of 220 tackles, eleven for loss, half of a sack, three fumbles forced, one fumble recovered for a TD, fourteen passes deflected and three interceptions.
Of note, Howard played three preseason games this year for the Eagles upcoming opponent, the New England Patriots. Some may see this as a strategic move by Head Coach Doug Pederson, trying to get any advantage he can. Take from it what you will but I think Doug already knows how to beat Bill Belichick and the Patriots.
The way I see it, the Eagles need depth at the Safety position, after releasing Andrew Sendejo, just last week. They also signed Safety Marcus Epps to their active roster. They now have four safeties on their active roster (Jenkins, McLeod, Ford, Epps) and one on the practice squad (Howard).

In a corresponding move, the Eagles have waived TE Scott Orndoff. He was originally signed to the practice squad, on October 28th.
