With the NFL trade deadline incoming, the Eagles have made their first trade.
It’s not the big splash the Eagles fans wanted, but the Eagles have agreed to send an undisclosed 2021 draft pick to the Cleveland Browns in exchange for defensive end/linebacker Genard Avery.

Avery had a nice rookie year for the Browns last season, putting up 4.5 sacks and 14 quarterback hits. A change of defensive coordinator, scheme and with a couple of new faces in the building; Avery hasn’t been able to see much of the field.
Coming to the Eagles, it’s not a groundbreaking trade at all. But, it’s one that provides them with depth and with a player who brings with him a lot of upside.
Eagles insider Dave Spadaro said, “he’s here to play defensive end, his strength is playing downhill, not dropping in coverage.” Misuser took him out of Cleveland and for the Eagles sake, thankfully so because now he’s in Philadelphia.
He’s going to cost the Eagles nothing for the next couple of season and he’s already acclimated to the NFL. The Eagles need defensive help and Avery is a good gamble. Here’s to hoping he turns into something really good.
