Eagles vs. Vikings: Keys to the game

13 October 2019 Uncategorized

It’s gameday folks and the Philadelphia Eagles are back where they won the Super Bowl to take on the Minnesota Vikings. On a two game winning streak, it’s a big game for the Eagles, here’s what to watch out for.

1. The battle of the trenches

Both teams have been able to run the ball. However, today’s matchup is unique as both teams rank in the top ten in the league for run defense. The Eagles being the number one team against the run. Up against the Eagles is running back Dalvin Cooks who’s been one of the best backs this season. The Eagles allow just 63 rushing yards against them per game this season. Slowing down Cook would set the Eagles up for a lot of success today.

2. How will the Eagles DBs fair against the Vikings WRs

Adam Thielen and Stefon Diggs are a deadly duo at wide receiver. The Eagles are getting Sidney Jones back today, so that’s a big boost for the Eagles. And, cornerback Rasul Douglas is having a very solid season. If the Eagles get pressure up front, it’ll allow their cornerbacks to play to their fullest. Helping these cornerbacks out is what’s going to be key for the Eagles. For them, it’s not about shutting down these players, it’s about neutralizing their effect.

3. An early start

Last week, the Eagles did a great job jumping to an early 14-0 lead over the New York Jets. Because of that, an Eagles victory was never in doubt. Historically and as of late, the Eagles aren’t a good team in the first quarter. In a big game on the road, it’ll definitely help them win if they get to an early lead or even show warning signs to the Vikings. The Eagles can easily set them up for success by doing so.

Can the Eagles win three games in a row? It’s very much in the cards if the Eagles play like they have been. Their defensive and offensive line have been playing much better and behind them, they can leave Minnesota with another win. Fly Eagles Fly!
