Eagles sign CB D.J. White to the Practice Squad

30 September 2019 NFL News & Updates Philadelphia Eagles

According to Mike Kaye of NJ.com, the Eagles have signed CB D.J. White to the practice squad.

White is a 4 year veteran who last played for the Washington Redskins this offseason before being waived. He played his previous years, for the Kansas City Chiefs and Indianapolis Colts. He spent time on both the practice squad and active rosters. He has seen action in 13 games in his career in which he has recorded 1 INT, 3 Pass Deflections and 14 Tackles.

White was drafted out of Georgia Tech in the 6th round (pick 178) in the 2016 draft. He was voted a team captain his senior year.

White is another body being added to a very depleted secondary after the Eagles just brought back Orlando Scandrick last week. The Eagles now have 3 healthy Cornerbacks on the roster (Rasul Douglas, Craig James, Orlando Scandrick) and 2 on the Practice Squad (Ajene Harris, D.J. White).

It will be very intriguing to see what moves are made prior to the game this Sunday. We are still very thin at Cornerback and I’m sure more moves will be made. One thing I think we can count on, is seeing a lot more of Malcolm Jenkins playing his hybrid role and lining up in the slot. With all of these injuries and the carousel at CB beginning again, our secondary will look quite different. Jim truly has his work cut out for him as we’re already dead last in passing yards allowed and tied for 5th worst in passing TDs allowed.

White isn’t the name everyone wants to hear right now but he’s a necessary signing. He has very little time to learn the playbook and it would be a surprise to see him suit up this Sunday or any really but at this point anything is possible.
