The winning formula: Eagles used ground game and RB Jordan Howard to neutralize the Packers defense

How do you win football games in the NFL? You do exactly what the Eagles did last night and give the ball to your running back.

Last night, the Eagles behind their offensive line and running back Jordan Howard, defeated the Green Bay Packers 34-27. The Eagles finally used their running back effectively and they were rewarded by his efforts.

On the night, Howard produced 87 rushing yards on 15 carries. He scored two rushing touchdowns and added another receiving touchdown. When a play needed to be made, Howard answered the call.

What was even more impressive about Howard’s performance was that he averaged 5.8 yards per carry. Almost every single carry was positive. That had a lot to do with his offensive line, his vision and his running style.

Howard is a bruiser, he’s a tough runner and in the red zone, he’ll find a way to punch it in. His second rushing touchdown was possible after he found a way into the end zone after being hit a short on the end zone. His second effort found him in the end zone celebrating with his team.

Piggy backing off of Howard, the Eagles now have the winning formula. On the night, the Eagles rushed for 171 yards. They controlled the line of scrimmage and alleviated a lot of pressure off of quarterback Carson Wentz.

This is how the Eagles need to play going forward. Howard is one of the best running backs in terms of yards and touchdowns the last few seasons. Using him needs to continue to be a priority going forward.
