The Road to Victory: Eagles football is back, here’s how they’ll beat the Redskins

8 September 2019 Opinion

Well we’ve waited since the loss versus the New Orleans Saints in the playoffs for this moment. Now, it’s time.

The Philadelphia Eagles hit the field at 1:00 and the season officially kicks off. There’s a lot of expectations for this team and this is their chance to send a message to the league. And, it all starts versus the Washington Redskins.

Offensively, the Eagles having been arming up all offseason. New faces have been brought in as well as a few familiar ones. This offense is expected to have a lot of success but nonetheless, it falls in the shoulders of quarterback Carson Wentz.

No one has been talking about the defense though. They’ve brought in Malik Jackson, Zach Brown, Andrew Sendejo and added depth all along the way. Their secondary is healed up for the most part as well. They’re going to be a lot better than any defense we saw last season.

Wentz is back and healthy at the Linc, DeSean Jackson is making his homecoming, we’re going to see Jordan Howard and Miles Sanders for the first time. The Eagles offense is going to have themselves a day. Alshon Jeffery, Nelson Agholor, Zach Ertz and a healthy offense line, who’s going to stop them.

An early deep ball will get the Redskins’ attention and Wentz will start picking off their defense from there. Mix in a few big runs and the Eagles will have full control of this game. There’s too many players to cover, the offense should a lot a lot of success.

There’s no saying how many points the Eagles score, but they really shouldn’t have any problems against a Redskins team that is coming to this game injured and mentally not as focused.

The Redskins will be without Jordan Reed, Trent William, Adrian Peterson (healthy scratch), and a true number one wide receiver. The Eagles defense can’t take them too lightly but they realistically should be able to handle them easily.

Playing in front of the Eagles faithful has always gave opposing teams headaches. The Eagles defense always hits their second gear at home. It’s a tough place to come too and with a lot of energy and passion fueling the defense today, the Redskins could be in for it. It’s going to be a great opening game for the Birds. Eagles win 38 – 20.
