Roster Move: Eagles release LB Paul Worrilow
18 August 2019 Uncategorized
A unique story ended in a not so good way. The Eagles have announced they have released linebacker Paul Worrilow. The journeyman linebacker was trying to recover from a torn ACL.
Two years ago, the Eagles signed Worrilow from free agency after he had stints with the Atlanta Falcons and the Detroit Lions. He tore his ACL last season before he was even able to suit up for the Eagles. He was pegged to be the veteran leader in the linebacker room, but his injury prevented him from seeing the field.
He’s a savvy veteran who offers a team a lot when healthy. Unfortunately the ball never fell his way while in Philadelphia. This release leaves the Eagles with a linebacker group that includes Nigel Bradham, Zach Brown, Kamu Grugier-Hill, Nate Gerry, L.J Fort, T.J. Edwards, Alex Singleton and Asantay Brown. Not all of those players will make the 53 man roster but I’d expect the first five are locks.
It’s an unfortunate end for Worrilow, but his NFL career isn’t over. Just because it didn’t work out in Philadelphia, it doesn’t mean it can’t elsewhere.
