Three Things to Know: Day 3 of Eagles Training Camp
27 July 2019 Uncategorized
It was a busy day at the NovaCare complex as the Philadelphia Eagles took to the field in full pads for the first time this training camp. It was an eventful day, so let’s break it down really quickly, here’s today’s biggest stories.
- Sidney Jones playing to his potential
The third year cornerback has yet to really get his feet settled in the NFL. This offseason has given him the first chance in his career to take advantage of all the ins and outs that come with a full offseason. Jones looked exceptional today, making play after play. He’s getting more confident everyday and it’s showing in his play.
Getting the best out of him would be a big boost to the Eagles secondary. He can easily slot in for the Eagles on the outside and lock down wide receivers from there.
2. Dallas Goedert looks like a monster
Goedert wasn’t used too often last year and this season, that seems like it’ll change. The Eagles and quarterback Carson Wentz have been giving the ball to Goedert frequently this training camp.
This is significant because if he’s a bigger figure in the offense, the Eagles will have a duo that would be virtually unstoppable in Goedert and Zach Ertz. Wentz has all the weapons in the world and Goedert is going to be a handy one.
3. LeBlanc update/Orlando Scandrick visit
We now know why Cre’Von LeBlanc has missed the last two days, he’s going to be out with a foot sprain. In the meantime, the Eagles have brought in former Cowboys cornerback Orlando Scandrick for a visit. He’ll merely be a camp body for now as LeBlanc recovers.
That’s all for today. Tune in tomorrow for another update.
