Why the Eagles signing OG Stefan Wisniewski to a one year deal is a good move

The Eagles continue to add talent to the team and more importantly add depth. The NFL season is a long and grueling one, having depth is key and the Eagles know that. That’s why today’s roster move is even better.

Bulking the offense line is never a bad thing and resigning guard Stefan Wisniewski to a one year deal is a good move for the Eagles.

Wisnewski has been on the Eagles for the last couple of years and while he hasn’t been a standout starter, he’s been quality depth and gave quality time when he had to start. Just two years ago, he was starting for the Eagles in the Super Bowl.

The reason this signing is important for the Eagles is kind of obvious, it’s about the line of scrimmage. Continuing to building a wall and secure a wall in front of franchise quarterback Carson Wentz has been a theme this offseason. This signing really cements that.

He’s a versatile player who prominently has played left tackle for the Eagles. He definitely can compete for that spot in training camp, but there’s definitely going to be competition. The most important thing right now about the Eagles with the exception of center, is that you can look at their offensive line depth and see players capable of coming in and starting. This a very key for their team success and adding Wisniewski today makes that depth even better.

Wisniewski isn’t a new face in the organization. He fits exactly what they’re doing as he’s been a part of the team during their most successful period in franchise history. Are the Eagles expecting him to start? Probably not, but he’s a player who can start and give you good minutes if needed. In a long season, this signing could end up being a very important one.
