4thandJawn staff mock draft: Who we believe the Eagles will select tonight in the first round

25 April 2019 DRAFT

The first round of the NFL draft kicks off tonight. For the Philadelphia Eagles, they won’t be picking until the end of the draft as they hold the 25th pick tonight. Right now there’s no saying who’s on their radar. With that being said, here at 4thandJawn we’ve gotten together and made our picks for the Eagles. Our picks for tonight are below.

Ryan Neal @rwilliamneal

Oklahoma WR Marquise Brown

With Nelson Agholor’s future in question and questions regarding DeSean Jackson’s long term production, the Eagles need to find another playmaker on offense. Brown is an elite talent at the position and this season he’d have the opportunity to develop behind Jackson and Jeffery and mold into a big time player for the Eagles. Carson Wentz will love this pick.

Gayle Saunders @EagleSessions

Miss St DT Jeffrey Simmons

The Eagles want to get their hands on a prospect in a “historic defensive line draft”, but should be willing to take a top 10 talent (when healthy) at a discounted rate. The thought of Jeffrey Simmons next to Fletcher Cox should have opposing quarterbacks losing sleep in 2020.

Kelly Carpenter @football_Kelly

Florida Safety Chauncy Garnder-Johnson

He would be perfect in Schwartz’ defense and has proven he can provide added versatility to the DB room. He tracks the ball well and attacks the run with a hard-hitting tackling ability. The safety position is more valued than LB for the Eagles front office/ defense and that’s why I see CGJ being the next great safety to wear midnight green.

Braxton Howard @braqshot

Oklahoma Marquise Brown, WR

Eagles have veteran leaders at wide receiver, but they don’t have any young pieces for the future. Brown is an explosive slot that can run any route on the route tree. He is a big play guy and there is no better guy to usher him in than Desean Jackson.

Chris Mallee @mallee_chris_24

Going Super Bold- Offensive Tackle from Alabama State Tytus Howard:

Here is a pick in the first round that would cause some noise. At 6’5” 322, he is the best player you’ve never heard of. Legendary offensive line coach Jeff Stoutland held a private workout with Howard in March. Afterwords, Stoutland stated, “I’d pound the table for him, he’s that good.” Similar to current Eagles right tackle Lane Johnson, Howard was originally a quarterback but converted to tackle where he ending up thriving. At the Reese’s Senior Bowl, Howard dominated players that are projected to be high picks in this years draft (such as Montez Sweat and Zach Allen). His hand skills and athleticism are unmatched and he has the dog in them that Stoutland reveres.

Brendan Deeg @eaglestalk

Miss St. DT Jeffery Simmons

Jeffery Simmons is a freak athlete and a top 10 talent in this draft. If it was not for his torn ACL back in Febuary, he would be going top 10. With the signing of Malik Jackson and Timmy Jernigan, the Eagles can afford to have an injured redshirt season from him, and still be a super bowl contender next season with the roster they have assembled. Jeffery Simmons is a rare combination of size and speed and pairing him with Fletcher Cox for years to come should fire up Eagles fans.

Carlos Rodriguez @carlosrod_02

Maryland S Darnell Savage

Bolstering the safety position could be a good move for an Eagles team that needs to get younger at the position.
