Jordan Hicks signs with the Arizona Cardinals

12 March 2019 Uncategorized

According to NFL Insider Ian Rapoport, LB Jordan Hicks is leaving the Eagles nest for another one in Arizona.

The 26 year old linebacker signed a four year deal worth $36 million, with $20 million guaranteed.

The former 2015 third round selection of the Eagles has been a solid playmaker in Philadelphia when healthy. The key word when you talk about Jordan Hicks is “healthy”. Over his four year career in Philadelphia he has missed 21 games, dealing with various injuries. Hicks rebounded from a torn pec, ruptured Achilles, ankle injuries and a calf injury, but the reality is he’s missed 21 regular season games.

With the emergence of Nigel Bradham’s play in the absence of Hicks during the Superbowl run, Nigel took hold over key responsibilities in the Eagles defense. Defensive Coordinator Jim Schwartz, who is a big fan of using three safeties, utilized the heavy dime package. The odd-man out here: Jordan Hicks. The Eagles defense went with Nigel Bradham as their every-down linebacker as he took a majority of the snaps.

Perhaps the Eagles are looking to get cheaper at the position and turn to the current roster. The Eagles could look to the draft, or look at signing a potential veteran free agent that is still out there.
