Game Preview: Can the Eagles handle business and continue win streak vs. Redskins

29 December 2018 Uncategorized

Can the Eagles get into the playoffs this Sunday?  Well, it’s not entirely in their hands, the Eagles need the Chicago Bears to beat the Minnesota Vikings. If that comes into four-wishing, the Eagles will make the playoffs and they’ll most certainly be a team to watch.

But, with that being said, we cannot get ahead of ourselves, the Eagles still need to hold up their end of the bargain and that starts with the Washington Redskins.

Coming off of two big wins over the Los Angeles Rams and Houston Texans, two playoff teams, the Eagles are playing their best football right now. Offensively and defensively, the Eagles are gelling and should have no trouble against a struggling Redskins team.

Over those two games, the Eagles have averaged 450 yards on offense, which includes 366 passing yards on a average and 84 rushing yards on average. Defensively, the team has bent, not broken. They’re allowing 371 yards against, but with their offense playing so well, they are able to leak a little defensively. However, what they have begun to do well is get pressure to the quarterback. They’ve got six sacks over the last two games and a ton of more pressure. As well as, they started forcing turnovers which has been big for them in this two game win streak.

Quartetback Nick Foles has been playing really well over the two games, throwing for 741 yards, four touchdowns and two interceptions. He’s spreading the ball around, making quick decisions and hitting the deep pass as well. Under him, the offense has been able to ignite as its struggled this season.

The Eagles front four, featuring the likes of Fletcher Cox, Brandon Graham, Michael Bennett and Chris Long have been feasting on the opposition. When the Eagles need a play defensively, they can count on this group to step up and dig deep.

There’s no reason to not believe the Eagles will continue their success versus the Redskins, in fact, it could end of being a big win in their favor. Without controlling their playoff destination, the Eagles need to control what they can control. Hopefully, the Eagles get some help from the Bears. In playoffs are in the cards, the St. Nick magic is in the air and the Eagles will go on a run.
