Game Preview: How will the Eagles fair against the Rams?

16 December 2018 Uncategorized

It’s game day and your 6-7 Philadelphia Eagles without quarterback Carson Wentz will be taking on the 11-2 Los Angeles Rams.

Offensively, here’s the matchup:

The Rams rank top five in all offensive categories. So, it shouldn’t be the Eagles offense you’re worried about, it needs to be the defense.

Defensively, with all the injuries and lack of depth, the Eagles have struggled. Running back Todd Gurley already have 1,203 yards rushing and 15 rushing touchdowns. He’s also dangerous through the air. Last week, the Eagles could not deal with Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott. Gurley is set to feast on them today.

Other than that, the Rams defense is not too good, but has a few big time players, like Aaron Donald. Defensively here’s how the two teams rank.

The Eagles need to get back to a simpler offense with Nick Foles at the helm. The offense will have success today under the circumstances, it’s just the defense that the Eagles need to worry about.

What needs to happen?

The Eagles need to use their front four to their advantage. They played great last week to no prevail. The rest of the defense needs to feed off of their play. We saw the Rams struggle last week and especially quarterback Jared Goff. The Chicago Bears got pressure and forced mistakes. The Eagles need to capitalize on the front fours pressure and make the Rams pay.

Offensively, with Foles in, the RPOs will come into affect. What’s that mean? The Eagles are going to get rid of the ball quickly. Expect, wide receiver Nelson Agholor to get back on track as well as tight end Zach Ertz, he’ll stay on track with a big day.

When it’s all said and done, the Eagles are going to Los Angeles with a beaten down team. There will be no quit in this team and if they get a good result, good to them. Right now, they aren’t playing for anything, but if they get a win and a few other results go in their favor, watch out.
