Eagles bring back CB De’Vante Bausby to the nest

5 November 2018 Uncategorized

During the bye week, the Eagles brought back a familiar face to the nest, adding CB De’Vante Bausby to the practice squad.

With the Birds dealing with a ton of injuries in their secondary lately, the front office took another shot on the offseason standout. The veteran journeyman could be seen as an upgrade to Dexter McDougle, after his underwhelming performance versus the Jacksonville Jaguars last week.

Although Jim Schwartz was very high on the 6-foot-2, 190-pound corner during the preseason he was unable to separate himself from the pack, losing reps to rookie Avonte Maddox and Sidney Jones, who both showcased more versatility in the slot and the outside.

With the Eagles dealing with depth issues in the secondary, perhaps the coaching staff is thinking about giving Bausby another opportunity. First and foremost, he’ll have to get off the practice squad to get a shot at that opportunity. Last week the Eagles promoted CB Chandon Sullivan to the active roster, which left a spot to add De’Vante Bausby to the practice squad.
