The winning formula: The steps the Eagles need to take to beat the Panthers this Sunday

18 October 2018 Uncategorized

The Eagles take on the Carolina Panthers in a match up that should bold well for the Eagles. For the Eagles to win, here’s the winning formula they need to follow.

For one, the Eagles need to feed their tight end duo of Zach Ertz and Dallas Goedert. Last week, the Washington Redskins used Vernon Davis and Jordan Reed to their advantage. Together, they caught eight passes for 84 yards and one touchdown.

Zach Ertz has been destroying defenses all season. He’s on record pace for the Eagles and shows no signs of slowing down. He’s second in the league with receptions and is only getting better with Carson Wentz back healthy. Goedert has been very effective and is a very hard player to cover in the red zone. If the Panthers struggled against the Redskins tight ends, the Eagles should have a field day.

An important note on the defensive side is to keep Panthers quarterback Cam Newton contained. Like Wentz, Newton makes a lot of plays when the play breaks down. He’s a tough guy to bring down. The Eagles defensive line needs to stay disciplined against Newton. But, the biggest thing the Eagles defense needs to do is contain running back Christian McCaffrey. He’s their go to guy, much like Giants running back Saquon Barkley was last week. McCaffrey is their leading rusher and receiver. If the Eagles can stop one player, they’ll have a good day.

The last thing the Eagles need to do to secure this win is play with their swagger. It seems after their win versus the Giants, the swagger came back. When the Eagles are feeling it and the game becomes fun, they are at their very best. Although the Panthers are a good team, the Eagles’ confidence and swagger elevates them to an elite team and good teams away from home will always lose to an elite team.

Easier said than done, the Eagles’ winning formula is there. Let’s hope they follow it and win again this Sunday.
