Report: Eagles workout WR Jordan Matthews and rumored to have set up workout with Jeremy Maclin, would you bring these two back?

Are the Philadelphia Eagles bringing back wide receivers Jordan Matthews and Jeremy Maclin?

Recent reports are indicating the both players are due for workouts with the team. In fact, Matthews had his physical today.

Matthews hasn’t been able to put together a string of games since he left the Eagles in a trade that brought cornerback Ronald Darby to the Eagles. When he was with the Eagles he was one of Carson Wentz’s favorite targets and one of his best friends off the field. The two had a great connection and will likely be able to reignite it once together again.

As for Maclin, he’s dealing with a leg injury but will have a workout with the team soon per John Clark.

In 2014, Maclin was a monster on the Eagles catching 85 receptions for 1,318 yards and ten touchdowns. He’s had success for the Eagles before and he’s familiar with the team. Adding a veteran leader is never a bad move, even if he can’t give as much as he once could. It’d also be another Howie Roseman reversing the wrong doings of Chip Kelly move.

There’s no doubt the Eagles need help at wide receiver for the time being. Matthews could immediately help the team as early as this Sunday. Right now there’s just three receivers on the roster which means a move will have to be done soon.

The team needs to have more depth at the position and bringing back two familiar players is ideal. With Matthews the question is, will he be primarily a slot wide receiver? He’s definitely a better slot receiver, however, the Eagles like to move their players around and wouldn’t expect any different with him. With Maclin, he’s adding that savy veteran leadership who will show up in the biggest moments. He’s not going to light the world on fire, but he’ll be a good guy to have around for another year. When it comes to deciding if they should sign them both, it’s a no brainer, the Eagles need to.
