Report: Carson Wentz not ruled out next week, week three is a “realistic” possibility for return

On a day where the Philadelphia Eagles are not playing, the Eagles fans received some positive news.

According to Chris Mortensen, Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz will be back sooner, rather than later.

On Sunday NFL Countdown, he had this to say.

“He got bumped around. He got stepped on. His GPS data is trending toward playing sooner rather than later. Key final piece of data is —  can he protect himself? He has reached that threshold in being able to protect himself. Sooner than later on Carson Wentz.”

He said a “realistic” goal for him is week three, although he has not been ruled out next week against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers just yet either.

The Eagles saw positive signs in practice last week when he was the scout team quarterback. This news is a big boost for the Eagles offense which struggled versus the Atlanta Falcons. Wentz’s impact will be immense and only make this Eagles team better.

Its possible the Eagles sit him one more week as they should be able to handle the Buccaneers, especially with their quarterback situation. However, the main idea here is that Wentz is almost fully healthy and ready to go and you know once he’s back, this team will pick it up a notch for sure.
