However, the Eagles starting running back did not suit up for today’s practice. Although he is expected to practice tomorrow, he should be ready to start versus the Falcons.

The Eagles are expected to lean on Jay Ajayi heavy this season, but his health has always been the question mark, during his short stay in Philadelphia. Ajayi has already dealt with chronic knee issues throughout his career, with Birds managing his touches last season.
Just recently, he missed eight straight days of practice with a lower body injury and he is now dealing with a minor foot injury. The Birds are most likely doing a little pain management and limit their starting running back, with no need for him to push it right away.
Looking ahead, the 25-year-old back could be the bell cow in 2018 and the Birds could give him the green light, with Corey Clement and Darren Sproles playing significant roles on passing downs and Wendell Smallwood as a change-of-pace option.
With Ajayi in a contract year, they could try and get the bang for their buck this season and make him put his money where his mouth is…that’s if he’s looking to get a pay day. With all that being said, the backfield is Ajayi’s to take control of this season.
