Three things to know: Training Camp day one
26 July 2018 Eagles News
Training camp kicked off today and there was quite a few surprises. After today’s session, here’s three things you need to know.
- Carson Wentz is back… well sort of
Wentz looked very good today in his first practice back after his ACL injury. He was rumored to be a PUP list candidate, however, Wentz was almost a full go today. He took part in 11 on 11 which he was just cleared for yesterday.
All along, Wentz said his goal was to play in the opener on September 6th and he looks well on his way to achieving that goal.
- A slot cornerback emerges?
Even though it’s just day one, the Eagles were using second year cornerback Sidney Jones in the slot with the first team defense. Adding him to the package with Ronald Darby and Jalen Mills, the Eagles might have the best three starters in the league.
As for Jones, if he wants the slot, it’s there for him to lose. He’s a very skilled player who would bring a lot to the table in the slot.
- The bands back
Wentz wasn’t the only player who returned today. Along with him, Jason Peters, Darren Sproles and Jordan Hicks were good to go. It’s crazy to think the Eagles achieved so much last season without a few of their key players. The Eagles are stronger now then they were when they won the Super Bowl and for the rest of the league, that’s a scary thought.
