Report: Eagles RB Darren Sproles announces 2018 will be his last season

15 July 2018 Eagles News

Today, Eagles’ running back Darren Sproles announced 2018 will be his last season in the NFL.

In an article written by himself, Sproles spoke about how 2017 was going to be his last season and why he’s going to be returning for one more season, saying,

“I’m excited to come back and I am even more excited to come back to the defending Super Bowl champion, Eagles. We have something special here with the team, the fans, and the city. We made history bringing the first Lombardi trophy to Philly and now we want to go back-to-back.”

But, even more than that, Sproles’ biggest motivation for returning hits close to home. In the same article Sproles said, “But I don’t do it for the records. Yeah, it would be an honor to be mentioned in the same conversation as those guys—but that’s not what’s important. I love this game. I love what I do. When my daughter Devyn looked me in the eye and told me I have to play one more year—well, that was it.”

Having a player with Sproles’ quality and play making ability is going to be great in an already stacked offense. There’s no say what his role will be on this team, but even in a limited role he’ll be effective.
