Three things to know: Week two of Eagles OTAs

30 May 2018 Eagles News

For the first time this offseason, the Eagles were outside for practice. And, even though it is just OTAs, yesterday’s practice felt a little different. Here are three things you should know following yesterday’s session.

1. Wentz’s Road to Recovery

Carson Wentz practiced with the team and although he was not a full participant because he is not cleared for team drills yet, he was a participant in individual drills. When the Eagles went to team drills, Wentz went off on his own and ran sprints.

Wentz looks really good and he looks determined to be back on the field by week one. Lucky for him, he already looks like he’ll be ready for training camp and he stills has three full months until the opener.

2. Dallas Goedert shines

Dallas Goedert showed his full potential yesterday. After yesterday’s practice, we have a little more insight into the Eagles thinking when drafting him. Goedert lined up as the second tight end, showing off his route running and pass catching.

Goedert and Zach Ertz are going to be an extremely difficult tandem to defend against. Goedert is only going to get better as he adjusts to the league. Right now, it is very early, but he looks the part for sure.

3. Linebacker situation

The Eagles were left in a bit of a predicament when they released linebacker Mychal Kendricks last week, as well as losing linebacker Paul Worrilow to an injury. Everyone expects newly signed linebacker Corey Nelson to be a starter, but yesterday, Nate Gerry, as well as Kamu Grugier-Hill, are going to get their shot.

This is definitely going to be the position group to watch heading into training camp. The Eagles roster is pretty much figured out already, except for at linebacker.
