Add Derek Barnett to the list of Eagles player who underwent a surgery this offseason

12 May 2018 Eagles News

According to Jimmy Kempski from Philly Voice, Eagles defensive end Derek Barnett underwent a surgery to fix a sports hernia.

During the regular season, Barnett had 21 tackles, 5 sacks, a forced fumble, as well as two fumble recoveries. He came up huge for the Eagles in the playoffs, forcing a fumble in the NFC Championship game and recovering a forced fumble in the Super Bowl.

In Kempski’s same article he says his source believes that the recovery time table for Barnett is six weeks, which should mean by now, he has recovered. He says this surgery should actually make him stronger too.

If Barnett was playing through this injury for quite some time, you’d never be able to tell. He never showed signs of slowing down and every play he gave it his all.

Going forward, Barnett is likely to start for the Eagles on the right side. He didn’t play like a rookie last season and the Eagles should expect big things from him this season.
