Report: Former Ravens RB Terrance West visited Eagles today

8 May 2018 Eagles News

Former Ravens running back Terrance West made the short trip up I-95 to Philadelphia when he visited the Philadelphia Eagles today.

This is the first free-agent visit for West after deciding to test the open market this offseason. West is coming off of a season with the Ravens which saw him rush for 138 yards on 39 carries, scoring two touchdowns in his little rushing work.

The former third-round pick has not been able to establish himself in this league, even after a great rookie year with the Cleveland Browns in 2015, where he rushed for 673 yards and four touchdowns. In 2016, he had another big year for the Ravens rushing for 774 yards and five touchdowns. He’s been able to show he can be a successful runner in this league, but both times after those big years he followed it up with low production and limited snaps.

The Eagles could be taking a flyer here and hope to get the best out of him. With little to no cap space, the deal would be for the veteran minimum. However, with a crowded backfield, he might just be more of a training camp body. But, we should never underestimate the fact that Joe Douglas was the Ravens scout at the time they picked up West. Douglas is familiar with the player and that’s something we should not overlook.
