Eagles select Australian rugby player, Jordan Mailata in the 7th round
28 April 2018 Eagles News
In the 7th round of the 2018 NFL Draft, the Eagles selected Australian rugby player Jordan Mailata with the 233rd pick.
The 6-foot-8, 346-pound raw prospect has no real experience playing american football, but what he does have that you cannot teach is raw athleticism and size.
Just a couple of weeks ago, the Philadelphia Eagles used one of their 30 official team visits on him, so this should tell you what they really think of him. There were multiple teams that had their eye on Mailata and the Eagles moved up in the 7th round to draft him. At first glance, the 20-year-old rugby prospect is an impressive athlete for his size, but still raw in the same breathe. Hats off to the birds front office for taking a calculated gamble on him to pair him with OL coach Stoutland.
