Mock draft roundup: Eagles select RB Sony Michel in Daniel Jeremiah’s recent mock draft

The Eagles’ running back room just got a little crowded. In Daniel Jeremiah’s recent mock draft, the Eagles select Georgia running back Sony Michel with the 32nd pick in the NFL draft.
“The Eagles have the luxury of taking the best available player at this spot. Michel would be a dynamic playmaker in this offensive system.”
He’s right, although the Eagles have Jay Ajayi, Corey Clement and company already at running back, the Eagles cannot pass up the opportunity to take a dynamic playmaker who can turn this formidable offense into an unstoppable one. This past season, Michel was unstoppable, running for 1,227 yards and 16 touchdowns. Behind him, Georgia football had an amazing run to the National Championship game.
However, will Michel transition into the league easily? Most scouts think so.
“Michel is a well-built, no-nonsense runner who is able to combine vision, burst, and physicality. While he can make open field cuts to find additional yardage, his running style is more angular in nature and he thrives when playing north-south. He’s not the most creative runner and he lacks some finesse, but his size, pass protection and ability to create yardage make him a natural fit as a future NFL starter.”
The bottom line is, Michel has all the tools to become a very good, well rounded running back in the NFL. The luxury of playing for the Eagles will give him time to develop into that. This would be a great pick for the Eagles and one I can get behind.
